What's So Great About Waterlase?

Our office is equipped with the Waterlase - a breakthrough in laser dentistry! In the hands of your trained dentist, the Waterlase is a safe medical device. The laser provides pinpoint accuracy, reducing the chance of causing damage to healthy tissues.

Waterlase dentistry can be effectively used when doing dental surgeries, not to cut the teeth as it is kind of slow, but to produce cauterization so there is less bleeding.

As outline by Jerry Massimei, It is now also being used somewhat effectively for the treatment of periodontal disease, where the laser beam actually burns away the tartar, cauterizes the tissue and allows healing to be initiated. If there is a deep periodontal pocket alongside of the tooth due to detachment of the bone and soft tissues to the root surface because of periodontitis, the laser helps to a degree that the deep pocket will heal and be reduced in depth so that it is easier to maintain in a healthy state.

Whoopi Speaks on Periodontal Disease

If you haven't seen Whoopi's comments on the View about her gum disease, you would do yourself a great service to pay attention to what she says.  Periodontal Disease is infections in the tissues and bone that hold the teeth in your mouth.  It starts very slowly so most of the time you don't even notice it, perhaps until you see bleeding of the gums more particularly when you floss.  It can progress rapidly if not treated to very serious proportions.  The danger lies in the bacteria that cause the gum disease (pyorrhea--an old term) of being carried to other areas of your body.  This bacteria loves your heart, now being very definitely linked by the medical community to heart disease.  The inflammation which occurs begins the processes toward high Blood Pressure, and Heart Disease.  It is also linked to Diabetes.  None of us want Heart Disease.  Red Flags!!!!
